Elko Nevada July 30 1992
I had the camcorder set up on top of a tripod,up high on top of a pickup bed toolbox, ready to record the 8am departure of 3985 from Elko.

My "Thank Yooo" sign (pictured below) I made for them after seeing 1991 trip through Northern Nevada, was placed on the ground leaning against the side of truck facing the train.

The latest word was the 8am departure was postponed to 9am due to needing a freight train crew to be on board to fulfill Union obligations?
But things changed very quickly about 8:15am!


So I thought I was in a good spot to film 3985's departure, but I was also thinking of a better spot further east in Elko yard to film, having filmed several freight departures the past 3 years here in the same location.

This video shows the Blue UP Steam Crew truck Bob was driving, running ahead of the 3985,ⁿ and he actually took the time to pull up to MY TRUCK and say: "THEY PULLED A CREW OFF A FREIGHT TRAIN" With his signature chuckle, then he threw it in reverse and took off.

(You can only see the blue top of the UP Steam Suburban with antenna in the video because I was at a high perch)
But you can clearly hear Bob's voice in the video)

His kind act led me to scramble further east and capture a much better view of 3985 navigating the switches of Elko Posted here:

At that time in 1992, I had No Idea who that Very Kind UP Steam Crew person was, Until I Joined Trainorders about 2013, Starting Posting my UP 3985/844 videos from the 1990's, and Bob3985 Filled in the blanks.
