Durango, CO, Slammed by Snowstorm - Power Outage
Author: cozephyr

A friend living near Durango, Colorado, mentioned power was out in town account heavy snow and winds creating white out conditions.  Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge RR employees had been sent home on 17 January 2023.  He estimated about 20-inches of snow had fallen as of mid-day Tuesday.

That's just silly talk, it doesn't snow that much there, oh and BTW the Chama ash pit, the yard tracks and pretty much
the yard are under the snow as described. Hopefully it continues and the fire danger takes a year or two off.

Out

cozephyr is correct, but they received 24 inches of snow. See the link:

Do they still have that big ski resort, "Purgatory" up there?

Yep, Purgatory is still there - I skied back in March 2021. Actually caught the Cascade Turn at the 550 bridge on the way up there.
