The horizontal spoke forms containing rebar to be placed/poured/pumped full of mud are another execise in Euler's slender column critical load formula and musings.

My guess once the concrete has been placard and the forms stripped and removed they will be dumping more aggregate in and around the to the top of the spokes to help retain the spokes from stress side to side. they seem to be large lengths not to have side support.

Placard is a play on words between us.   I was viewing the spokes tonight and it looks like they accually slope to the the center som bit by maybe a 12" or so from the outer ring rail footing.

Now Lets get the popcorn ready for the show.

Thank you for the reports on the TT progress.ing rail.

Yes...
The T/O,  cheap-ass spell-checker is really clumsy.
How do I turn it 'off'?

They appear to have all the forms done for the spokes and I'm wondering if the pouring/placing/pumping or even "squirting", if you wish, will get done tomorrow.  All that appeared to be happening while I was there today was a few in the pit doing some cleaning up and a couple of others standing by the ladder chatting and watchingf the guys down below.  That was around noon and maybe something was done later after I left.

It's interesting that Doyle had saved the red doors from the original roundhouse
as well as the complete TT and the service-track 'drop table'  --- for 'wheel work'..

At the time he made the decision, who knew what the future held?
I presume, at that time, that the arrangements for the land acquisition were
in place...Its just amazing how well things turned-out.

A huge part of the.success is the City's continued support for the 4449,
and how the City's managers perceived the benefits of investing
in the Project, before anyone had any idea of the future enthusiastic
civic support of it's citizens and visitors.

"Thank you" goes to all of the City's elected officials, past and present,
the staff, managers, lawyers, etc. for their positive reception --- ever since
1974 and the decision to support the AFT, with the loan of 4449.

All of which ( the AFT) was one man's dream, in the midst of political turmoil
of the times, of giving the Gift of the Amrtican Freedm Train to the people of the Nation.
Thank you, Ross E. Rowland, Jr., for your incredible persistence, hard work
and accomplishment, of 50 years ago.

( Take him out of the picture, 50 years ago, and what have you got?
