Chessie Steam Special with double CPLs. 9/78.

Ex Reading 4-8-4 T1-2101 is W/B on the Chessie Steam Special in Weverton, MD. The colorful 4-8-4 (some called it gaudy) is on an excursion to Harpers Ferry, WV. Loved those B&O CPLs, unfortunately all gone today. 11:10AM on 9/24/78.

Very nice photo from the second season, 1978, of the Chessie Steam Special.  Little did we know that there would not be another season for the 2101.

The late Dick Yager disdainly called this the "Circus Train" because of the paint scheme. I wonder if he ever photographed it?

Great Image. Gaudy or not, I always felt like that scheme was the best ever applied to a T-1. That black skirting always looked odd to me on the T-1, but the two tone paint seems to give it purpose.
