Steam & Excursion > UP 4014 in Nebraska

UP 4014 ran the Sidney Sub from Sidney to North Platte today 8/29/2024.  I caught her a few miles east of Sidney near Sunol NE.

I was not aware that the United States and various state flags that were on 4014 were somehow phony. Please, explain to all of us, how exactly were they phony.

We, I just reapplied the chalk for the continued enjoyment by many. In all seriousness, if there are times/locations when it would be preferred for photographic purposes to have a clean smoke box, please reach out - I’ll do my best to accommodate. I appreciate all the great photography.

Ed, when you come up to the Pacific NW sometime, my vote is definitely FOR the chalked smoke box…everyone I know likes it that way…it’s a neat idea and a great nod to Big Boy’s heritage.
