Steam & Excursion > NKP 765 Crossing River Styx TrestleDate: 03/02/25 16:56 NKP 765 Crossing River Styx Trestle Author: refarkas Mike Ondecker and I caught NKP 765 heading west over the N&W (Ex-AC&Y) River Styx trestle in River Styx, Ohio on June 25, 1983. As we were both much younger then, we scrambled up the steep hillside from the road below. Going down was even scarier. Now, I'd be more careful, but back then we both took far more chances.

Has the line on which this excursion ran been abandoned? I looked up River Styx on Google Maps to see where it was located. The mapping did not show any railroad line passing through the community. Date: 03/02/25 19:00 Re: NKP 765 Crossing River Styx Author: cblaz RuleG Wrote:

This is now the Wheeling & Lake Erie Akron Subdivision bridge over the West Branch of the Rocky River, just southeast of Medina, Ohio. - Chris Date: 03/03/25 04:10 Re: NKP 765 Crossing River Styx Author: gcm Great shot on the bridge !
We must have passed each other somewhere on this excursion. I rode it one day and chased the next. Gary Date: 03/07/25 05:59 Re: NKP 765 Crossing River Styx Author: Notch76 like it

But I do remember my Geology Field Methods professor reminding us that the really bad falls happen on the way down the hill. Good advice there. |
