Frisco-Memphis bound in 1950
Author: Frisco1522

Joe Collias was on hand on Feb 23, 1950 to record this marvelous shot of 4-6-2 1043 heading south on the River Division in Shrewsbury, just out of Southeastern Jct. where the west end of Lindenwood yard splits between the mainline to OK and the River Div south to Memphis and Birmingham.
1043 has been somewhat updated, but not to the extent of some of the other 1040-1059 series.
The Gasometers were a familiar sight in Shrewsbury. Some of us jokingly called it Monument Valley.
Joe Collias photo, my collection and colorized.

The line down to the Southwest. Wartime traffic until pipelines helped siphined off some of the emptiess southwest/empties back headed for the east coast.
Heavy military traffic.
Today the line is heavy rail and ballast in beautifyl condition but not much trafficl;

Really like your colorization work.  You have a good hand for it.  Not over done.  It looks natural.

I'll try to find the first thing I colorized. It was a streamstyled Frisco 4-6-4 freshly built.
I got some early advice and hints from Jim Herron some years back.  Its easier now than it was.

Sure like the way you did the graphite front end.
