Steam & Excursion > SMS Steam #9 ReplacementDate: 05/01/25 07:44 SMS Steam #9 Replacement Author: Tominde See the thread below about Woodstown Central (in South Jersey) 0-6-0 #9 being down for a hot bearing. The replacement is Reading FP7 #902 and soon 903. This pair of locomotives sat at Steamtown for a few years and about 2 years ago SMS obtained them (lease I believe).
From the Woodstown Central FB Page a picture of 902.. As I mentioned on a previous post, Woodstown Central/SMS does not do anything half baked. All of the equipment is restored first rate. I doubt that the FP7s ever ran on these old PRSL (Pennsylvania Reading Seashore Lines) tracks. Locals may know more. There is no Wye or turning so that the trains will runn pull-pull or AA runaround the train. ![]() Date: 05/01/25 07:46 Re: SMS Steam #9 Replacement Author: Tominde Andy Muller or Reading and Northern may be just a little envious.

Date: 05/01/25 08:46 Re: SMS Steam #9 Replacement Author: steamfan759 That is a great looking replacement for 0-6-0 #9. I was very pleased to see that the wye has been rebuilt at Salem. We chased #9 early on April 18th and she went from Woodstown to Salem. The Easter Egg Hunt was in the area of the wye! I tried to attach a photo that I took with my phone. This is the 10AM train returning to Woodstown before the bearing failure. I am hoping someone can fix this photo!
