Definitely one of the greats. Our knowledge of railroads during his era would be diminished without him sharing his works. Date: 05/10/25 11:27 Re: J. Parker Lamb has Passed Away Author: tomstp Sad to hear that but hell at 84 it seems everyone I knew is going/gone.

Parker Lamb has Passed Away Author: ironmtn I had missed this earlier. Very sad news. He is one of the photographers whose work I most enjoyed through the years. Prayer and best wishes to family, friends and colleagues.
MC Date: 05/13/25 10:11 Re: J. Parker Lamb has Passed Away Author: raytc1944 Lamb was one of my all time favorites. I first came to know his work in the pages of "Trains" in the 1950s when he used the byline "J.P. Lamb Jr." Although, he shot steam I especially enjoyed his diesel photography.

Seems like all of us steam guys are thinning out too. My closest steam buddies are gone and our 1522 group has thinned out somewhat in the almost 23 years (WOW) since we shut down. Scary how time shoots by. Like a roll of toilet paper, the closer to the end the faster it goes. Date: 05/13/25 20:01 Re: J. Parker Lamb has Passed Away Author: rrman6 That's so true!! And when all that's left is the cardboard core that's rather useless, especially when another roll isn't nearby! Ha! 😂 🤪

And he got into some areas that were under-photographed and under-documented. His technical and artistic ability were a big plus.

Parker Lamb has Passed Away Author: wabash2800 But the last time I checked it is difficult to use photographs from this source even if you are a published author or publisher. The website was very vague. Maybe that has changed Perhaps railfans cant be trusted to honor copyrights?

They went as far as sending a flash drive with scans on it. There were no problems at all. Ironically, at the end of the day the images did not end up getting used.
