HICO History Continues
Author: scoopdejour

NEW VIABLE CUSTOMERS - Nickel Plate Historical and Technical Society, N&W Historical Society, Reading & Northern RR, The Strasburg RR, and the National Museum of Industrial History (Bethlehem, PA) are as happy with my book as I am. Also, full color ads in Railfan and Railroad magazine and access to the geneal public via Amazon. Perhaps The Good Lord will bring in more since I have additional book prersentations to make.

I'm very grateful to all those who invested in a book whose story was worth telling!

Thanks

I haven't bought one yet, but I intend to.

one simple question before that:  was the Memorial Day 1973 trip from Hoboken to Binghamton the last trip that HICO ran?

I ask because that was the First fantrip that I ever rode. I was 15 at the time.

That must have been awesome to New Englanders who hadn't see mainline steam in a long time!

Steamtown USA operated and promoted that trip with NKP 759 themselves.  HICO was not involved at all.  I was with a carload from Indiana and Ohio who chased that trip and it looked like a sloppy operation.  The Steamtown cars were not too impressive- in fact some were pretty ratty.  Awful paint and I don't think it was over 8 or 9 cars long.
