Steam & Excursion > 4449 fifty years agoDate: 05/13/25 18:34 4449 fifty years ago Author: jbwest I believe it was May 13, 1975 that the 4449 made a break-in run from Portland to Wishram and return on the BN. First, on the turntable at BN's Hoyt Street roundhouse, then leaving Vancouver (you can almost smell the fresh paint). And finally a nice spot along the Columbia heading toward Wishram. Corrections welcome since it has been a long time.

What I remember most about the 4449 was the painted Southern Pacific sunset logo on its cab floor. I recall it looked great. Would anyone have a picture of this art work?

The pictures you saw on the Mobile Fidelity LP covers were probably taken by Hal Lewis, who was with me and standing right beside me when I took the second two pix. Hal did a lot of sound recording as well as photography. JBWX Date: 05/16/25 11:46 Re: 4449 fifty years ago Author: ns1000 Nice pics!!
