Steam & Excursion > Frisco 1522, 32 Years Ago Today... AgainDate: 06/09/25 16:08 Frisco 1522, 32 Years Ago Today... Again Author: MaryMcPherson 32 years ago today, Kurt and I were chasing Frisco 1522 as she deadheaded from St. Louis to Galesburg, Illinois, for an appearance at Railroad Days.
That day, we were in Kurt's Ford Fairmont that couldn't hit 60 if you dropped it from a helicopter. At one location, a B.N. special agent pulled up behind us and proceeded to lay into Kurt about blasting past him at high speed while driving like a maniac... something his car was certainly not capable of doing! Kurt was taking offense and about to argue the point. I whispered under my breath "just say yes sir." When he did, the agent gave us an "and don't do it again" and we were on with the chase. 1. Whipping through Old Monroe, Missouri, at high speed. 2. Accelerating after a stop at Dundee, Missouri. 3. About to duck under an overpass north of Quincy, Illinois. The weather was obviously better than three days before on the Centralia trip! Mary McPherson Dongola, IL Diverging Clear Productions Date: 06/09/25 16:22 Re: Frisco 1522, 32 Years Ago Today... Again Author: stevelv Nice photos and story Mary. I got a good laugh at your knock on Kurt's Ford Fairmont

Great photos of a nice run. I always loved rattling Old Monroe. Track speed was 60 on much of the K line back then. |
