Steam & Excursion > T&P 610 on the Freedom TrainDate: 07/04/25 05:37 T&P 610 on the Freedom Train Author: gcm Feb 1976
(1) The Freedom Train parked at Houston Union Station with 610. (2-3) The train departed Houston and ran to Fort Worth on the Santa Fe. Here is the northbound at Milano,Tx crossing the Missouri Pacific. The track to the right connected the Santa Fe to the MP. It had rarely been used since the Inter-American stopped coming through here a year or two before. Edited 1 time(s). We had JUST arrived- the flat cars haven’t even been unloaded yet. Once the the train was spotted, unloading the flats was the very first task. SR Date: 07/05/25 05:29 Re: T&P 610 on the Freedom Train Author: Txhighballer BoilingMan Wrote:

The 610 came in alone, on greased rail because she was indeed the biggest locomotive Union Station had ever seen and there were issues with the curvature getting in there. The 610 sat for awhile while the 610 crew serviced her, KPRC Channel did a live spot with her, with the occasional whistle blown. Later on that day, the MOP units spotted the train, and 610 was moved then.A memory burned into the mind of a 13 year old... |
