Steam & Excursion > RBMN Spots "King Coal Cafe" in Jim Thorpe

Reading and Northern's new food service car "King Coal Cafe" (the former NYC 6 double bedroom/buffet-lounge "Chicopee Falls") has been spotted at Jim Thorpe, where it will be regularly assigned.  The car is in RBMN colors but is lettered for the Lehigh Gorge Scenic Railroad, and carries both the name and the road number 1170 (other RMBN food service cars are numbered in the 1160 series).

It was obtained along with other cars from the collection of Jeff Pontius earlier this year.  It can be seen, end-on, on the LGSR Jim Thorpe livestream.

It would seem that R&N could park it like a food truck and anybody could board it and order a snack or meal. Not part of train.

Now I understand why I have seen the portable stairway in that location when checking the camera for the recent past.
