I met him in person once (briefly) on the Livingston (MT) west long lead back in the 90s. I was working an MRL train stopped for a meet at the time. I jumped off my train and engaged him in conversation. We discovered we had a few mutual friends in the railfan fraternity. It is a great disappointment that I never got a chance to go out, shooting with him in person. Oh….. the humanity…….. Posted from iPhone Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 08/24/25 20:44 by santafe199. She survives today, apparently reasonably well cared for, at Centennial Park in Sarnia, ON.

Where is that? I rely on this site and RYPN to get news on all of these engines now because I switched to using a social media platform most railfans and societies don't use and likely never will. As such I have not heard any news on 6060 but I presume she's still in pieces in Stettler, AB undergoing a slow 5 year overhaul (since Canada never really upgraded their steam regulations like we did here; part of why operational mainline steam is nearly non-existent now save for 2816, which is back in storage anyway). 6077 is the third one that got saved. She's on display in Cochrane, ON. I would like to think I'll see 6060 steam in my lifetime but the last impression I have of the Alberta Prarie's current management, from what I saw before I left Zuckbook, didn't inspire much confidence... I go to Port Huron once a year or so to visit the grave of my grandfather. Now that I have my passport renewed, I might just cross the Blue Water Bridge to pay a visit to 6069 this year.
