Donated to California State Railroad Museum, who in 2008 conveyed it to Timber Heritage Association as it worked most of its operating career for the Dolbeer & Carson Lumber Company in Humboldt County. Currently stored in the former Hammond Lumber facilities in Samoa, CA. See this link:

I remember being very surprised back in 1972 when getting a chance to look into the old ST&E engine house
seeing the #3 fully intact and quietly resting. Glad it got preserved.

ST&E was a regular weekend stop in the early 1980's for the switcher fleet parked outside. Had no idea there was a steam engine parked inside, or had been parked inside. Never stopped there when the place was operating.
