I just heard from our friend Jim Herron of Herron Rail Video. He started off his call by saying that he is still alive and I said, well I’m certainly glad to hear that! He had a stroke which has ultimately affected his legs to the point where he is now restricted to using a walker and wheelchair. For a while he was unable to respond verbally but now has his communication skills back. He spent a lot of time in the hospital and is currently in an assisted living facility although he hopes to go home very soon where he can access the internet and communicate with friends and customers. He intends on filling outstanding orders, and creating more of his outstanding video programs.   
Jim is a devoted railfan and he and I, as with many of his friends, have had had many interesting phone chats over the years.

Thanks for the update. All of a sudden he dropped off the radar. We emailed back and forth, usually silly stuff or RR BS and I was afraid he was gone.
Very sorry to hear about the stroke, but if I know Jim he will be back soon.
Get well Jim, I miss our silly stuff.

Good  to hear Jim is recovering; I too am a fan of his excellent videos. Be well Jim, peace and healing to you.

We all need to take better care of our self's as most of us neglect seeing a Dr. on a regular schedule. be of good cheer and see you Dr. Often as we age. 

Tough news, but hopefully he can get back to doing what he loves to do

That certainly jives with the secondhand information I heard.  I am thrilled to hear he is recovering!

When I first saw the thread title, my heart sank and I feared what I would read.  Smiling big right now.

Me too. So glad that he made it through. Not just because his videos are so terrific. But because he's very much one of our fraternity, who has given us so much over the years. And we all always hope for the best for all of our friends. Plus, the few times I met him by chance along the way over the years, a genuinely nice guy.

Missed a call from Jim this morning (9/22/25) but he is still on the mend, walking some with a walker and hoping to get home soon.

Just got off the phone with Jim.

He tells me a redesign of the website is underway and he plans to get back to work on filling orders to customers and dealers as soon as he can go home. He currently has his cell phone and that is the extent of his connectivity at this time.

He says he was indeed hospitalized for a long time after a serious medical event in January. He is currently in an assisted living home, looking forward to going home as soon as they'll let him.

He also says that he has projects in the works he intends to finish, so here's looking forward to more great work from him in the future!

To Mary  and all the others who commented on this thread;Thank You so much for your comments and prayers. It has been a long year of recovery getting back on my feet after a stroke in mid-January with 3 hospital stays and 4 nursing homes. But I'm back on my feet and just beginning to fill all the orders that have come in for our DVDs. 

Be assured if you have ordered any time since Jan 15th, we have not cashed your check or charged your credit card for your order. We only do that when we are ready to mail it. I hope to begin filling orders this week.

Our web site was taken down by our computer guy  a few months ago but he will be putting it back up  in the coming few days and replacing that with a new one soon.
