B&O 6512 on the CVL
Author: refarkas

B&O 6512 is southbound on the Cuyahoga Valley Line (now Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad) at Peninsula, Ohio. Geeps would often be used when CVL 4070 was down.

I was there in the summer of '82, looking forward to 4070 with my new bride on her first 'big steam' trip with me.

No 4070.   Late, no-show, air compressor fail.  CSX GP40 showed up.

And HOT, by the time we got to Akron on the old open-window ex-LIRR 'ping pong' coach my wife had chistened it 'the train from hell' as it was so hot and humid.
She begged me to call a taxi for the return to Cleveland, and as I remember, we were boarding at some lumberyard or something where you couldn't have seen 4070 anyway even if it was there, or running in the green canyon.

I never did see 4070 run.

The trip randgust took was an excursion into a nightmare!

6512 is still alive and well, running freight on the Durbin & Greenbrier Valley RR's Shenandoah Valley operation out of Staunton, VA.
