Steam & Excursion > Two 4014 ShotsDate: 09/30/25 15:26 Two 4014 Shots Author: tehachcond Here's a couple of shots from today"s 4014 run from Cheyenne to Denver. Not quite sure what to think about the smoke lifters. Kind of an acquired taste.
1.. On the wye at Speer, just a few miles south of Cheyenne. 2. Putting on quite a show leaving Greeley. Don't know why they were making so much smoke, Maybe testing the smoke wings? Ed was working a pretty heavy throttle. Enjoy, and as always, commments welcome. One thing I would like to see them do is let that ol' steamer get all gross and dirty, with coal and soot all over it, white lime stains dripping down the side of the boiler, oil splatches covering the side rods and a healthy layer off grime and brake shoe dust all over the drivers!... the way a steam engine is supposed to look, in its natural railroad habitat!
