"Valley" 4070
Author: refarkas

For some unknown reason Cuyahoga Valley Line 4070 is wearing only "Valley" on its tender as it heads south near Akron, Ohio in June 1980.

I'd bet money it was for a movie or TV shoot that used the engine. They tend to use fictional (and often generic) railway names.

I believe it was around this time that the engine was used for a scene or two in "The Natural". The only clip I've ever found online just shows her in the background of a baseball game though.

"The Natural" train scenes were filmed in Western New York.  They would likely be filmed later than 1980 as the movie was released in 1984.

CVL 4070 had Burlington lettering for The Natural. On the Cuyahoga Valley Line, she ran with the CB&Q lettering for a little while.
