Steam & Excursion > 765 on a Rainy SundayDate: 10/19/25 16:30 765 on a Rainy Sunday Author: MaryMcPherson It's the third of three fall colors excursions with Nickel Plate Road 765 on the Indiana Northeastern between Pleasant Lake, Indiana, and Hillsdale, Michigan. After plenty of sun on Friday and Saturday, the sun was gone and there would be plenty of rain. These first three photos were taken as the locomotive was being readied with some final details before the run in Pleasant Lake.

5. At Hillsdale, the crew is looking the locomotive over during the layover. 6. Despite the rain, the passengers (your intrepid photographer among them) voted to do the scheduled photo runs at Ray, Indiana. The train is backed up for the first of two runbys. I really prefer these types of photos to the posed mannequin like pictures that seem to be the trend these days, especially with night photos. Thanks again for posting!
