Marking Time With the NKP 765
Author: jbohdan2

I realized this past weekend that I have been photographing the NKP 765 for over half of its lifetime if my math is correct.  Built in 1944, I first trained a lens on this locomotive in 1983.  Over the decades since, I have shot it many times, but never have I rode an excursion pulled by it until this past Saturday on the Fall Colors Special hosted on the Indiana Northeastern.  The weather was perfect nearly the whole dayAside from catching a cinder in my left eye on the way up to Hillsdale, it was a perfect day.  The first couple shots are at the layover in Hills dale, MI, while the last is the first runby at Ray, Indiana on the return trip.  Super job by the Fort Wayne Railroad Historical Society.

Nice shots and how many people can say they shot a true mainline engine run by in 2025?

Quite a weekend, wasn't it?  I second your take on the trip after riding Sunday and chasing Friday and Saturday.  I'll be posting video soon and eventually B&W photos from the four rolls I shot.

And I love shot #1...the detail showing on NKP 765 is most excellent! Thanks for sharing.

You too Mary; that there is one badass pan shot--supercool!
