Steam & Excursion > 4501 Stack TalkDate: 10/22/25 16:13 4501 Stack Talk Author: MaryMcPherson Here are a few scenes of Southern Railway 2-8-2 #4501 leading a Summerville Steam Special on October 11, 2025. Kurt handled most of the video work that day while I handled the film cameras and the driving. Following the run #4501 came up lame and couldn't go on Sunday, but we got plenty of good scenes with the single day we had.

4501's whistle always sounds great. The old gal's still got it. Probably reminded her of her days at the K&T working loaded coal trains from the mines up to Stearns.. Hope nothing serious is wrong with her. Like all us old timers, sometimes something doesn't work like it should. Thanks for posting. The sign on the rear modifies the Chessie Steam Special design to read Summerville Steam Special.
