Steam & Excursion > "The Pinehurst" as seen returning to Pinehurst NCDate: 10/23/25 12:44 "The Pinehurst" as seen returning to Pinehurst NC Author: scraphauler ACWR 6909 brings The Pinehurst back to Pinehurst NC at 0955 10/23/25, for the finally of the 2025 Pinehurst season. The Rolling Brunch Train is operating one last time for the season this weekend, Saturday 10/25 and Sunday 10/26, between Pinehurst and Aberdeen. Train departs Pinehurst at 11AM and 1230 PM, departs Aberdeen at 1145 AM and 115 PM. Assuming same consist as last time, you'll have 271 (and maybe 276) on north end, 103 on south end, with (north to south) ex PRR Twin Dinner, Canopy car, Pinehurst, and Mission Sant Ynez. Additionally, on SATURDAY ONLY, Engine Room 87 will relocate to the north leg of the wye in Aberdeen and be open to the public from 10AM ish to 4PM ish - my assumption is 6907 will be its power down and back - it will dead head down sometime Saturday morning and back as soon as they close Saturday afternoon. Would be an interesting place to be from just after 11 AM until afer115 PM to enjoy an adult beverage and watch the brunch train arrive and depart. Who knows, CSXT might throw in a B427 or B439 for added bonus. I would suspect all the fine toys from Pinehurst will head back to Candor sometime in next week or two to get ready for the Holiday Trains out of Star and their subsequent winter slumber before heading back to Pinehurst prior to Valentines Day to kick off the 2026 season.
