Minolta XD-11, 50mm lens, T-Max 100 film. Mary McPherson Dongola, IL Diverging Clear Productions Date: 11/04/25 07:14 Re: Barking Out Of Pleasant Lake Author: wabash2800 Thanks for sharing. Railroaders used to call this location "P-Lake" or more likely "Pee-Lake. (Maybe they still do.) Love railroader sense of humor and nick names.
Under the bridge at P-Lake to a pit, hobos would camp in that era. And there was a spur that came off the mainline at P-Lake and served a large gravel pit, originally used to ballast the railroad during the Lake Shore years. But the Lake Shore sold the the pit to a private interest when it (the Lake Shore) preferred crushed stone over pea gravel. The mainline bridge was put in many years ago when the bridge before it washed out. Victor Baird Edited 6 time(s). Last edit at 11/05/25 10:04 by wabash2800. |
