Snoqualmie Falls were raging after heavy mountain rain and snow in the last few days; so much so that the mist from the bottom of the mighty torrent was curling UP the downstream canyon walls—raining upwards past us, so to speak, and then of course drizzling back down on us. We were a couple hundred feet above the falls at the observation point next to Salish Lodge. You could feel the power! A beautiful and amazing place to chase or ride trains. Small town friendly, too.

That is a nice little switch engine!

Thanks for the nice photos.  I have what might seem like a dumb question, but,  was the NPRR 924 built as a wood burner, or are they just using wood for fuel because it's easily available, or cheaper than coal ?  It obviously works.

As for NP 924's fuel, Craig, I'm not too sure but it seems it was a conscious decision by the museum to burn wood. The googlyAI says...

The Northern Pacific 924 locomotive burn wood because it is the more available and practical fuel in its current location, Northwest Railway Museum (even though it was originally built to burn coal. )
The museum uses local wood products, such as Douglas fir and lumber cutoffs, as a practical and environmentally sound alternative to coal. 
    •    Availability: Coal is not readily available in Western Washington, where the museum is located, but wood is plentiful.
    •    Environmental considerations: Burning wood is a more environmentally friendly choice for the museum compared to using coal.
