Steam & Excursion > Everett RR - 10 years with steamDate: 11/07/25 05:48 Everett RR - 10 years with steam Author: bigsavage In Fall 2015, the Everett RR started steam-powered excursions with 2-6-0 #11, and a handful of refurbed passenger cars.
Initial trips only went about 5 miles from the new station in Hollidaysburg, PA., largest town on the line, and a onetime place of importance for the PRR. Ten years on, the EVRR has run steam trips on all their lines, built up a nice roster of cars, and converted #11 to oil. Some bumps on the way were losing a year's operations to Covid, losing both their largest customer (paper mill), and their oldest customer (General Refractories) Ridership in 2023 was almost 35K. comparing nicely with other nearby tourist operations. November, 7, 2015 was a typical PA chilly, breezy day, sun broke through for the last trip. While referred to as a "Railfan Day", there was nothing special, except ticket prices, IIRC. The new operation looked impressive from the RT36 bridge. A SW1 was a neat sight switching the car repair business at the east end of Hollidaysburg Yard Departing Hollidaysburg for last trip as sun breaks through. Edited 1 time(s). Rolling out of town along the remains of Hollidaysburg yard. Vid is approaching Kladder station at Monastery Road. At about 4 miles out, this has become the location for themed trains.
