Steam & Excursion > NKP 762-Sort Of!Date: 11/10/25 22:19 NKP 762-Sort Of! Author: jimeng Had fun playing with my own 762 a couple of weeks ago at the Los Angeles Live Steamers. Engine performed flawlessly as I ran it all day with a pretty good load. .
Photographer Zach Jones seemed to catch the details just right. The engine has a Nathan 4000C injector like the prototype and the hot water pump does work. I had one air compressor working but it quit-have to work on that. I burn oil, not coal like the prototype. I'm getting lazy in my old age! Jim Kreider Date: 11/11/25 04:14 Re: NKP 762-Sort Of! Author: flyingfred Wonderfully detailed engine! I need to get back out to LALS again as it is local for me.

There's a Frisco 2-8-2 4100 class built by a Doctor out there that's out of this world. There's also a lot of silly stuff out there but if the owner/builder enjoys it, that's what its about. Date: 11/11/25 06:26 Re: NKP 762-Sort Of! Author: Roadmaster Wow, that indeed is a lovely locomotive!
Matthew Date: 11/11/25 08:19 Re: NKP 762-Sort Of! Author: tomstp There are several of those NKP berks in the live steam hobby. They have so much plumbing and accessories on them that they take a long time (years) to build. Can't remember his name but, a man in south Calif. made bronze castings for those engines. They really are great live steam models.

Date: 11/11/25 19:08 Re: NKP 762-Sort Of! Author: NKP779 no mystery,Jim Kreider engineered the parts and design. There are over 2 dozen of Jim's Berkshires scattered around the world.
Posted from Android Date: 11/13/25 08:05 Re: NKP 762-Sort Of! Author: jimeng The engines are 1-1/2" scale. Here's a photo of three of them running at the Riverside Live Steamers in Riverside, CA.
Jim Kreider Date: 11/13/25 11:48 Re: NKP 762-Sort Of! Author: wabash2800 So does that mean that 1-1/2 in equals a foot (1/8 the size of the real thing)?
Victor Baird Date: 11/13/25 11:56 Re: NKP 762-Sort Of! Author: jimeng Yes, 1/8 of the full size.
The prototype is 15' 8-1/2" tall so the model is almost 24" tall or 23-9/16" to be exact. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 11/13/25 11:57 by jimeng. Date: 11/14/25 13:06 Re: NKP 762-Sort Of! Author: MaryMcPherson |
