Steam & Excursion > A relook at PM 1225 at sunset in 2013.

I've posted this one at least once on the Steam and Excursion board.  My editor (gimp) has greatly increased its functions, and I'm learning to take advantage of what's new.

We see PM 1225 approaching Michigan State Highway 57 just south of Ashley, MI.  The time on the image says 5:07 PM, and the sun sets here at 5:04 PM.  This is pretty much what I saw when the engine passed between me and the background of the sunset.

Nicely done.  I especially like the view of the cab.

I wish I knew, Masterphots.  I've not been down that way for over a year...  I'm getting to be long in the tooth ;-).  Since getting a pacemaker a month ago, I'm feeling much more energetic and I might slip down that way just to check on things...  I do like to visit Durand with a camera.

I buzzed down to Owosso today only to find the place all locked up with shiney new chains.  It didn't help that the City of Owosso had the streets under repair and I had to walk to the site with the locked gates.  I didn't smell any signs of steam, or see any for that matter.  If it's running starting on Friday at 5 PM, they'll have to get it hot in the next day or two so that it's ready to roar on Friday.

You must have just missed it -- literally. 1225 has been fired up throughout the day.

Wow!  Yeah, I was there at Noon and there was no hint that a steam engine was being fired up.  Sometimes the early bird just misses the worm ;-)  If my night vision was decent, I'd be down there for the 5 PM departure.  Oh well...  There's always Saturday morning to try out a few spots not yet tested by me.

Good news.  Guess I'll be in Owosso in January after all.
