Fifty or More Years Ago - Reading 2102 on Display
Author: refarkas

Former Reading 2102 is on display in Akron, Ohio in late April 1970. She is at the Norfolk and Western (Ex-Akron Canton and Youngstown) engine facility before powering two fan trips on the upcoming weekend.

The spectators help make this an interesting image.

Are the vertical members on the point used boiler tubes?

It sure looks like a standard Reading Company boiler-tube pilot.

Thanks, Bob, for the photo.  I think that the Reading Railroad T-1 #2102 must have been the most photographed of the four engines that were saved, and now this great engine is back in service on the Reading and Northern Railroad.  Here is a photo from the past coming from Baltimore and heading up to Hagerstown, Maryland on the former Western Maryland Railway back in February 1972, one of my photos from the past.
