The Cumbres and Toltec Scenic Railroad is offering a 30% discount on 2026 summer coach tickets to be used May 23 through September 11. The Black Friday discount offer is good through 11 pm Monday December 1. It requires you to book a date for the trip but a change fee (up to 24 hours before the trip) is only $6. Full cancellation 48 hours before the trip will cost $18; no refunds less than 48 hours before the trip.

I do note that the 2026 schedule still includes one departure each way each day as the Commission said in their November meeting, but one departure would be a bus first then train. There will be only one train on alternate days from Chama and Antonito until after September 1 when trains each way will begin for the fall color season. Your choosing a date right now might require a change once the season approaches but the $6 change fee will still allow for a considerable savings (about $35) from the $135 coach fee.
