Secondhand Climax
Author: MacBeau

Long before Larry's Truck Electric and Helm, there was Southern Iron & Equipment of Atlanta, Georgia. This standard gauge, Class B, 40 ton, S/N 534 was built in 1904 for an unknown buyer, but ended up in the hands of Joseph E. Bowen, a dealer in Norfolk, Virginia. Sold to SIECO in May 1911, by April 1912 (the time of this image) it has been lettered for its next owner, West Virginia Pulp & Paper Co., where it will stay until December 1919 when SIECO will broker it to Waterford Lumber Co., Wanyesboro, Mississippi. Its last move will take it to J.T. McKinnon at Beatrice Spur, Mississippi in 1924.

Fascinating - This might be the only surviving roster photo of this Climax!

Just below the locomotive number on the side of the cab at rail level is a plaque with the number 807 on it.  Anyone have an idea what that is for?

That is SIECO's item or stock number for that locomotive. Other images from their inventory have the same style with different number.

Noted as the SI&E shop number.

This is a good book about SI&E for anyone interested in in the topic of used steam locomotive sales.
