Steam & Excursion > We run and heat with steam ...Date: 12/29/25 13:44 We run and heat with steam ... Author: dcautley This is the last departure of the Holiday Express of 2025, at Oregon Rail Heritage Center.
We are happy and sad to be done for the year. This is a push/pull/pull operation; we have an historic SW10 on the north end of the train as well as Polson No. 2 on the south. From our station we immediately cross the MAX light rail line. This is one of two light/heavy rail crossings on the west coast, the other is in the San Francisco area. The interlocking is radio controlled. Video taken with my phone and quality slightly reduced to fit file size limits here. You must be a registered subscriber to watch videos. Join Today! Currently we're on a quest for a inter-car steam coupling gasket that is "in a box" that got put "somewhere" when we cleaned up the ORHC yard for the turntable project. There are only a couple of places it could have been put ..... :) Date: 12/30/25 14:31 Re: We run and heat with steam ... Author: Hou74-76 ....inter-car steam coupling gasket....
That sounds like what I used to call a steam conduit gasket. I'm old school and staid I know, but I remember we kept a good supply of them in stock. We would go through 2-3 a week on the Lone Star back in the day. Still, it had to be a pretty good leak for us to replace one. A screamer by the diner or sleeper always got "fix-it" attention. |
