Alabama Great Southern
Author: MacBeau

Presenting yet an even different background to contemplate, a finished 4-6-0 awaits delivery at Schenectady 1905. Built with 20x26 cylinders and 69 inch drivers, it would last until February 1932 when it was scrapped at Birmingham. Keep trying to imagine this locomotive painted Southern green with gold, must have been a beauty. A different image of this same locomotive can be found on Wikipedia's Alabama Great Southern page. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alabama_Great_Southern_Railroad) A special thanks to southernrailfan.net for their excellent predecessor history page.

Thanks for posting.

Note "Q & C Route" on sand dome.

The demise of the Queen & Crescent Route at the beginning of 1917 resulted in the engine being re-lettered as "Southern" and given the number 6660.

This excellent roster photo comes alive to me because of the background. Together they better lock this photo in space and time.
