Steam & Excursion > Question: switcher use locationDate: 01/01/26 12:11 Question: switcher use location Author: mile250 Happy New Year.
This morning I cataloged the 100th image of an SP locomotive for the SLO RR Museum. [This one was donated by James Gaddis, from the collection of Malcolm (Mac) Gaddis.] Here's SPMW 566 (an 0-6-2T). Does anyone know where it was used? The photo's specific location would be great. -Glen Matteson Date: 01/01/26 12:17 Re: Question: switcher use location Author: HotWater That is a "Shop Switcher", used in any number of the SP large locomotive steam shops. You might contact the Southern Pacific Technical & Historical Society to see where that particular engine was assigned.

It was built to be bi-directional and not require turning at the end of the line which is why it had a pilot at both ends.
