Western Maryland Scenic Railroad - Question
Author: ClubCar

I know that many of you living in the Cumberland area keep up with the Western Maryland Scenic Railroad and their activities.  Today, they did a lot of switching of the passenger cars, the caboose, and the three baggage cars at the station in Cumberland.  The baggage cars are now gone and there are several of their passenger cars now on the outer track at the station tonight with the caboose on the middle track.  Does anyone know what they are doing?  Seems strange to do all these movements as they are not running regular scenic trains right now in January.  Thanks.

I would argue that there are few to no TO members in the Cumberland area since Tim Wilson passed.
Can't account for all the switching of equipment , but why are you assuming there are no excursions?
1309 ran last weekend and is scheduled this weekend, a photo special is next Friday.
Weekend trips are diesel powered after this weekend until first week of May.

How sad that people just post things with presumptuous judgments, without bothering to find out facts.

I'm sorry, I was given the wrong information from another rail fan who told me that the WM Scenic was closed for January.  Yes, I should go and verify the information myself.  Thanks Bigsavage for letting me know.

Yes, again, I'm sorry, I should have gone on line and verified the information myself.  Thanks longliveSP.

It wouldn't be a surprise even if they weren't currently running trips. Down time is the BEST time to move stuff around. Bandwidth, track time, and crews are limited during the busy season.
