Steam & Excursion > Taking a BulletDate: 01/24/26 00:04 Taking a Bullet Author: MacBeau Baldwin built five Class G-3/P-47 4-6-2's for the Central Railroad of New Jersey in 1927 with the 834 being next to the last. John S. Powell recorded it at Bound Brook, New Jersey at 10:30am on April 28, 1930 leading the less than one year old #50, The Bullet, CNJ's premier twice daily train between New Jersey and Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. Inaugurated November 7th, 1929, just two weeks after Black Friday, The Bullet will be discontinued on July 12, 1931. If there is a named train with a shorter lifespan than this one, it has thus far eluded discovery.
