TVRM Grand Junction Depot Broken Into
Author: MaryMcPherson

This hasn't been out in the news at Trains or Railfan & Railroad as of yet, but it comes from a TVRM Facebook page.

On February 3 at 7:58 PM, the Grand Junction was broken into. During this incident, all donations were stolen from our donation boxes.
We are sharing photos and video footage related to this incident and ask our community to please take a look and share.
If you have any information, no matter how small, please contact us directly 423-894-8028 or local authorities.

This is from one of the local TV stations:

Why leave the donations in the donation boxes?!  Collect daily and DEPOSIT IN THE BANK.

assuming you can get one... some of these dudes do try to play by the rules and still get rejected. If that happens enough they stop playing by the rules.

Simply saying something like that is the mark of a very simple mind.

And let me be clear: playing devil's advocate does not mean I'm condoning this in any way.

Robbing a non-profit is low even for a criminal.

I wonder how often TVRM emptied the donation box and how much it gets through those donations?

We at the Southeastern Railway Museum in tha Atlanta area were broken into a couple years ago.  Took fencable tools, expensive power cables, and similar stuff.  Luckily no artifacts.  Not fun, but could be worse.  Cops no help.  All the do is fill out reports.

That's awful.  Some companies etch their most valuable tools with identifying marks, making them less attractive to fences. And put up signs to that effect.

Not that any of that matters much to meth heads and other junkies.

I'm not understanding why the theft of, at most, a couple hundred dollars out of donation boxes is making such a huge splash on TO and social media sites. It sucks, but I'm not sure I would even publicize this at all. Make changes in how donations are handled and move on.
