Numbered Incorrectly
Author: MacBeau

This photo by John S. Powell came marked as the 3035 at Radnor and dated August 6, 1912. The only problem is, no K2sa ever carried that number. The 3405 would qualify as it was built that same year, but for the moment, this one remains an unsolved mystery.

In almost every photo you have posted, the cleanliness of the grounds and right-of-way are amazing compared to what can often be found now.

When I was a kid under 13, I'd occasionally ride the Southern Pacific between LA and the bay area.  Two or three times a trip, we'd pass a group of 10 to 20 guys working the track.  They had to keep that jointed stuff up-to-snuff less the steamers pound the track into kinks.  Diesels and continuous rail improved the condition of the track so less attention was paid to it.

Section crews had pride in their sections and tended well to housekeeping as a result. Then sections were lengthened and jobs cut to the point where it is not possible to have pride and tend to cleanliness. === === = === JLH

All very true, plus the fact that in today's world, there are many more two legged pigs running around the planet throwing trash everywhere.  All one has to do is go into any major city where a railroad can be found and you will see all kinds of junk all along the right-of-way.  People are way too lazy to put trash into cans and also to have the bulk trash people come and take away old junk like furniture, appliances, and other rubbish.  These pigs would much rather haul it over to the railroad's property and throw it there.  It's a real crime and a shame.

All in the name of greed.  They would rather have all the money the can pull in rather than have a planet that will continue to support life as we knew it.  Just read some of the sci-fi books and watch movies and TV shows that touch on this, like Soylent Green and its original "Move Over, Mover Over".  Even the apes in Planet of the Apes take better care of their world.  Just some melancoly thoughts for the day.
