Gottfried Heibesen framed the 3370, a 1911 K2, in the Philadelphia area in 1913, the year before it would be rebuilt into a K2s.

I would have loved to have stood there next to him and seen this action !

What are the first two cars, mail express and combination coach-baggage or what ?

Thanks for another first-class posting. Through the photos you post, they show how railroads were such an important part of everyday life. To many, a train like this was just as important as "The Broadway Limited." These smaller trains may not have been as fancy, but they were just as necessary.

I am enjoying this series, showing railfanning more than 110 years ago.  Prior to this series, the earliest fan shots I'd ever seen were of Gerald Best and some friends taking photos of the westbound Lackawanna Limited near Conklin, N.Y. (Binghamton area) in 1915.
