CB&Q Northern 5614 on the Galesburg, IL scrap line in June 1961. She was an O-5-B built by the CB&Q at the West Burlington Shops on July 1937.

Just think of all the work that went into building that marvelous machine.  Too sad to see them stripped of their jewelry and turned into nails, barbed wire or mid sixties cars.   Maybe even fifth generation Subarus by now.  I saw some scenes like this too, on the CB&Q, Great Northern, C&NW, and Milwauakee Road.  I barely caught the end of Mainline steam, and I'll never forget it.   Thanks Dad.

Thanks for the photos, Marty

Good news is she made it out of the line and is on display in St. Joseph, Mo.

Is there more than one Burlington 4-8-4 out there?
