Steam & Excursion > 4014 at Ragan, Wyo.

Less than 5 minutes before a heavy shower of rain and wet snow arrived, the 4014 is hammering up the grade to the Aspen/Altamont tunnels at Ragan, Wyo. early this afternoon.  The diesels must have been idling because the Big Boy was making superb sound.  An eastbound freight had passed on the near track less than 10 minutes before the special showed up, another piece of good luck.  This was  the only shot I got today, deciding that with the weather deteriorating it was time to head home at that point instead of heading on into Evanston for another look at the train.  I might give it another shot on the return trip later this month.
