Steam & Excursion > 4501's Unveiling Postponed

This was announced last week, but apparently hasn't been mentioned here.

Southern Railway 4501 was supposed to make her debut in green this coming weekend with a date on the Summerville Steam Special on May 9th.  Her new paint won't be finished because of the weather and the need to do much of the work outside.  Southern 5000 will be pulling this weekend's train instead, with 4501's first run pushed back until the 23rd.

I plan to be on hand for her run the following weekend on May 30th.  I suppose I should lay off the B&W film for this one...

Thanks for the information.  Might save someone from being disappointed on the 9th.

A friend of mine got shafted because he reserved a hotel room for a couple of nights through one of these third party sites.  Sorry.  No cancellations.  But, he bought travel insurance.  Sorry.  Doesn't count 'cause the train is still running.

I went through the hotel chain's website and had no problems changing mine at the same hotel.  Then I used points and set him up a room and told him to just pretend he bought the room he used.

Live and learn.

Kudos to TVRM for being transparent about the delay and offering refunds/cancellations for those not content with a diesel excursion. I almost bought tickets for Saturday but some family member graduation activities nixed that plan. Not sure if I'll get to Chatt. this season or not so hoping 4501 will stay green for a while. I always thought the green made her unique and sort of like a fairytail story of the worn out freight hog getting promoted high profile passenger duty complete with passenger dress reserved for the finest.

TVRMs original post said the green paint is for this year only.

Yes, that's what they are saying although that seems like a huge waste of time, materials and money to go through another repaint in 2027. By that point, it should have only about 2 years left on its current 1472.
