Approaching end of track at MP 30 Happy valley bridge, Track is laid at least 1/4 mile further but track crew hasnt given it to opertions yet.
WP 713 pulled the train west and the steam engine ran light to Niles after stopping in Sunol for water.

Thanks for the coverage. Looks like lots of fun! Nice to see the Clover Valley #4 out and about.

Last time I saw steam east of Sunol was during the 2014 Steamfest, where 5 steam locomotives ran together. I don't think the train ran past Hearst 12 years ago.

The much lighter M-200 was allowed to run much closer to the current end of the line few weeks ago, which is past the Sunol Blvd. bridge. Looking forward to steam running past that in the near future.

Cruising along a nice track speed--great work by the track crew!!  Looks like BONTA is also a ballast staging area.

Is BONTA where SP and WP made a crossover between their mainlines when WP had to rebuild their tunnel in Niles Canyon?  I remember seeing WP trains on SP thru Niles, and later on SP's line over Altamont.  I forget the specific reasons why that all happened, but it was great to see--wish I had video of all that.  Are there any videos of all that??

Really nice to see. Last time I visited Niles Canyon two GE 44-tonners (one of them being the ex-ATSF unit) headed east light from the Sunol Depot. At the time the outside connection at Hearst was as far as the track went. Don't recall why that happened as we had WP 918 and SP 1423 power our train.
