Steam & Excursion > Happy Semiquincentennial from VirginiaDate: 07/05/26 07:11 Happy Semiquincentennial from Virginia Author: B-LineRailfan I went to watch the 611 yesterday morning and had a great time. Here are a couple photos and a video shot outside of Gordonsville, Virginia. The 611 was pulling Louisa to Gordonsville, Virginia excursions for the Virginia Scenic Railway on the Buckingham Branch Railroad, with the 611 leading westbound and a diesel on the other end of the train leading the trip back east.
Today the 611 is pulling her final steam excursion of the season running from Louisa all the way to Staunton, VA. I was hoping to post this yesterday, but we lost power due to a strong storm in the evening. Regardless, I hope you all had a safe and enjoyable Independence Day! 1. Pic from Dunkum Store Road 2. I hope they do run some more trips this fall. That would be great! I haven’t ridden behind 611 since it went up to Strasburg but would love to take the family on another ride. There appeared to be empty seats on the excursion I watched but I have the impression that overall they did well during the Summer of Steam (certain trips and classes of service sold out). FWIW, I heard that PM 1225 may visit the Buckingham Branch RR this fall. Posted from iPhone Steve Gass Linden, VA B-LineRailfan |
