Steam & Excursion > Cumbres and Toltec Commission meeting 15-Aug-26

Once again Sam Seiber has produced a lengthy and comprehensive report of last Saturday's meeting that includes an accompanying video. I won't try to summarize as a reader will find separate discussions on operations, finances, marketing, capital projects, etc. However I will report several highlights.
* The fire danger resulting in cancellations at the beginning of the season has impacted finances but they are recovering as fall color reservations improve and the RR introduces some special trains.
* Plans for the 2027 season schedule are being finalized; in previous years the schedule was delayed to late fall/early winter.
* Marketing includes social networking where the interest and results are exceeding any previous efforts.
* There are six special trains scheduled for the remainder of the season with additional December Santa trains in the works.
* The pavilion at Cumbres Pass is being rebuilt and should be available for dinners and concerts next year with special trains from Chama
* Rebuilding of #484 (down for its 1472 work) will not begin until restoration of K-37 #492 is complete.
