Challenger Photo (oddity)
Author: sbotts

I shot this about 8 miles east of North Platte, NE on 9/25/2003. I saw the train behind me in the mirror, so I grabbed the camera, aimed and fired. We had a great day chasing the challenger.

Especially when it says, Objects in the mirror are closer than they appear

Where does it say that at?

It's a standard statement on ALL automotive mirrors "Objects are closer then they appear". On the vehicle I was driving (when I shot the photo), it was not printed on the mirror itself (whcich I found unusual), instead it was on the remote control switch for the mirror.

To the contrary, it normally only appears on the right hand mirror which is usually a convex surface. That does make objects viewed seem smaller in order to give a wider field of view. A flat mirror on the right hand side would not show enough to be useful. The left hand mirror, closer to the driver, is normally flat and does not have the message. Objects there appear the size they are.
