Nostalgia & History > Spring and a 4x5 at Allard, SP Tehachapi LineDate: 10/06/05 22:04 Spring and a 4x5 at Allard, SP Tehachapi Line Author: CimaScrambler Here is another image from my collection of 4x5 negatives made back when my view camera was new and SP still wore scarlet and gray. Here, four tunnel motors lug a heavy coal train up toward the Allard horseshoe on the first day of March 1991. The spring grass has just begun to show on the dunn-colored hills, and the sky is blue. It was a beautiful morning for watching trains, and for spending an hour setting up the camera for a shot like this. If I remember correctly, the exposure was 1/30 second at f/22 on Kodak LPS color negative portrait film.
Thanks to ATSF100WEST for the scan on that great scanner of his! These old negs scan up pretty good on his tool, don't you think? Be safe out there - - Kit Date: 10/06/05 22:50 Re: Spring and a 4x5 at Allard, SP Tehachapi Line Author: the_expediter Great shot, Kit! Too bad that area can't look that green year round...Steve in hot San Diego

That location is my favorite spot on Tehachapi. Tom |
