Author: up833 Got about a dozen chipcar pix this weekend on a sb thru Tacoma. I will post a couple here...more if anyone is interested.
This car was likely a NP car at one time..outside braced and kind of a rare breed. Roger Beckett Date: 10/25/05 17:08 Re: GNwoodchip car today....... If you see it again, and can get close enough, you should be able see the old GN number stenciled on the frame. You may have to crouch down low to see. If no new ones, any idea when the last cars were built? Butch,,,,,,here we go Date: 10/26/05 10:52 Re: GNwoodchip car today....... Author: kodachromedude truxtrax Wrote:

In Oct 2003 there were 1,529 chip cars. Oldest built in 1965 and the latest in 1981. An interesting tidbit..Frisco and ATSF did not have specifically designed woodchip cars. Only highsided gons that had to be unloaded from the top. Most (if not all) the BN cars had doors at one or both ends (according to the book). Longview Fiber had one of these in addition to an end-dump to not limit the type of car the shipper might have access to. Here's a photo of a Walthers HO scale model of one with the number 165078: http://www.cchobbies.com/hoscale/freightcars/freighthtm/htmphotoes/932-5689.jpg Date: 10/27/05 16:13 Re: for Horoshi Author: Hiroshi3 up833 Wrote:
