I really enjoyed seeing these. The heat coming off the engines on the first shot really puts it in context of the grade in the desert.

Though, if I'm not mistaken, the second one is an eastbound in the big curve where San Timoteo Canyon Road meets the freeway just below Beaumont.

Thanks Kit...would this be closer to "Apex" then?
How far was this vantage point from Hinda?

Mike,

I would say, based on my experience on Beaumont Hill, (though many years ago) that the lead unit is just about half way between the Hinda Crossovers and the crossovers at Beaumont.

They're eastbound between the crossovers at Hinda and the 60 Fwy overpass where a certain Helper Hoghead used to listen for the echo of the engines bouncing off the sides of the overpass so he knew it was time to open his eyes and watch for the runing air test and bail off the jam (unless he had his plug in the bail ring.)
